Personal: Summer in North Carolina

Mat and I just got back from vising the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, where we spent a lot of time enjoying the great outdoors.  Mat’s father lives in Marble with his wife Cathy, and they have 1 dog: Murphy, 2 cats: Barney and Fife, and 3 llamas: Chief, Duke, and Smackers.  A couple interesting facts about llamas, they have no upper teeth and their top lip is split in 2 to help grab grass and hay into their mouths.  Summers are hot in North Carolina, and these guys are native to cool South American highlands.North Carolina llamas

One of the days we were visiting, we all went down to the Nantahala River to do some white water rafting.  It was my first time going, but I felt pretty safe with the pros.  The most important part of rafting is to plan your route and avoid large protruding rocks.  We did all right, no one fell out believe it or not!  At the end of the river, we took this photo below and ate at the restaurant pictured to the left.  They had the most amazing Vidalia Onion rings, we went back a couple days later for more.

Sherri…these are beautiful! And what a gorgeous place, now I’d like to visit! The llamas are so near and dear to my heart; I love to knit with Alpaca yarn, so soft!
