Victoria + Tony: Married at Calamigos Ranch

Victoria and Tony met while attending school at UCLA, and celebrated their 5th anniversary of being together on their wedding day this past Saturday. Tony is currently a successful video game designer for the biggest selling game of all time, Call of Duty and Victoria is exploring the PR field and is pursuing her passion for event planning. It was no wonder their talent and creative mix lead to lots of fun and personal details! Victoria and Tony chose yellow and grey as their wedding colors, as also seen from their engagement session at the Santa Monica pier. These two tied the knot this past weekend at one of my favorite venues, Calamigos Ranch in Malibu!

Sakura & Nathan: Backyard Wedding

Sakura and Nathan’s wedding took place on Saturday afternoon at Nathan’s family’s home in Garden Grove. The details of this wedding were planned to a T, with lots of bold style, handmade details, and cultural elements.

The style of the wedding was BW stripes with red accents. While some brides do a second dress for the reception, Sakura wore a white dress that showed her striped BW stockings and 3 different shoe changes (well, actually 4 if you count the ones she wore while getting ready). Her first set was a fierce red high heel with deadly spikes! Nathan wore a BW striped tie and red converse shoes.

Sakura and Nathan chose not to see each other until the ceremony; however, beforehand they wanted to do some formal pictures with the bridal party. Sakura had a mix of bridesmaids and bridesmen.

Rambo and Halo the “kids” with handler Amber. She brought them down the isle with her during the ceremony!

Team Sakura’s Bridal Party Wars! Guys: 0, Girls: 1

Sakura waited with her father in a BW canopy tent as guests arrived. I think everyone was pretty surprised when her sisters unzipped it and Sakura came walking out to a Muse song. Guests were seated at their tables as they watched.

Fleming & Samantha: Married!

Fleming and Samantha tied the knot this past weekend at The Victorian in Santa Monica. They were surrounded by their closest friends and family, from both near and far… It was fun to see how much love and traditions they incorporated into their wedding day like, family heirlooms, ceremonies, and food! Kristin and Jordan: Married at the Victorian, Santa Monica

Kristin and Jordan tied the knot this past weekend at the Victorian, Santa Monica. I met them both back in June as they started the planning process; you might remember their fun engagement session at Manhattan Beach back in July. Even then, they had a clear vision of what they wanted their wedding to be like: candlelit, romantic, and vintage were just some of the key words. Jordan is really into football, so they actually chose their wedding date for late February so it wouldn’t conflict with the football season. It was awesome seeing their vision come together in a celebration with their close friends and family.

Wedding at the French Estate

I had the great pleasure of photographing my first wedding of the season with one of my favorite photographers of all time, Stephanie of This Modern Romance. The wedding took place at The French Estate in Orange, CA. The estate is a private home with tons of vintage charm, big palm trees, and a beautiful draped back yard patio for an outdoor ceremony. The weather was amazing, and perfect for a spring wedding for Sean and Cheryl!

My focus during the wedding was lots of pictures of the groom Sean, and detail shots.

Before the ceremony, Stephanie arranged for them to have a first look… which allowed us plenty of time to head over to the Arboretum for some romantic pictures.

Cheryl’s flowers was a soft white/purple combination of calla lilies, hydrangea, orchids, and roses.

Favors for the guests included planted succulents.

Smog Shoppe Wedding

A few times a year, I have the pleasure of second shooting a wedding for my fellow photo buddies… which can be really cool because I have freedom to take fun pictures and get a different perspective than I normally experience on a wedding day. Here’s some pictures of a wedding I shot back in September with the talented Dana Grant at the Smog Shoppe in Culver City. The location is pretty unique in a few ways… like keeping the original charm and architecture of the building including rolling garage doors and parking markings on the cement, to adding unique touches like the full wall of succulents both inside and out! The Smog Shoppe is definitely a venue for someone looking for a place that is both memorable and unique.

I’ve kinda been MIA this past month, with the wedding season slowing down. I didn’t realized how long it’s been, until I saw my last post was in early November! Well, I’m still around, working on some personal projects and revamping my camera bag and skills. I’ve spent about $3,800 for new gear! (A very merry christmas to self!!) I’ll post an update on exactly what I got later…

But for now, I want to take this time to share some recent news from TheKnot. We’ve been voted “Best of Weddings” for 2012! Thank you sooo much for everyone who voted! I’m really grateful for the new friends/clients I met in 2011, and I’m really looking forward to a wonderful New Year in 2012. Jen & Rylan: Married!

As a wedding photographer, getting to know my clients on a personal level is a priority of mine. Sometimes there is an instant connection and it makes for a beautiful match (and beautiful pictures)! As my clients share their wedding day visions with me, there can be sometimes things about them I find inspirational, like the way they interact with each other or the theme of a wedding with personal details. Little did I know at the time, that Jen and Rylan would become one of my dream clients!

Jen came to me last year as she started planning her September 2011 wedding, to take place at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield. After searching high and low for wedding photographers in her area, she emailed to see if I would consider traveling to Bakersfield to photograph her wedding. I was so flattered at the thought, and of course photographing a wedding in a new location is awesome! After a brief chat on the phone, Jen decided to book me. For Jen and Rylan’s engagement session, they chose to come down to my favorite spot in Malibu. This was actually the first time we met in person. At the shoot, I got to know them both and started to fall in love… with Jen’s sweet disposition and Rylan’s stylish threads, it made my job look really easy!

Fast forward to September 24th, 2011, the day of Jen and Rylan’s wedding. They were surrounded by close friends and family who celebrated in their love. Everything about their wedding was absolutely dreamy! From the obviously beautiful things, like the delicate flower details of her Lazaro dress, crystal Jimmy Choo shoes, to his diamond edged wedding band (a Brad Pitt inspired design), a gorgeous pearl 5 tier wedding cake… to the more heartfelt moments of their beautiful sunset ceremony on the lawn, first dances, and crazy dance party that kept the night going… it was an absolute blast and emotional day. I’m so happy to end my season with one of my favorite weddings of the year!
