The following steps will help explain my typical Wedding Client Timeline. Hopefully this guide will make your Wedding photography experience an easy process!
How to get started with your wedding photography:
- You’re engaged, have a date, and location for your wedding? Awesome! Time to contact me!
- I will look over my calendar to see if I am available. Please make sure you contact me asap! I accept commissions up to one year in advance, so the sooner the better.
- If you’re local to Santa Monica, you’re welcome to come to my studio for a one-on-one consultation. We can chat about your vision and I can show you some beautiful album samples. If you are not local, don’t worry! We can also arrange a time to chat on the phone or do our correspondences via email.
Pick a Collection:
- Choose an available collection, or customize your own!
- I’ll send you a Photography Contract for your review.
- Return your contract with a retainer to secure your wedding date. (Pricing and availability is not guaranteed until both of these items are received.)
Engagement Session: Your engagement session is a great way to get to know what it’ll be like to be in front of my camera on your wedding day! Even if you’ve had your picture taken by a photographer before, chances are my style and approach is different. I like to capture lots of directed candid moments, so I want you to be super comfortable and confident in me and our relationship. This not only saves your oodles of time on your wedding day, but you end up with images that are very personal, fun, and relaxed!
- 6-9 months before your wedding: we will set up a time and location for your engagement session. This time will vary depending on time of year and use of the images. For example, if you’re ordering an engagement album, I’ll need time 3-5 weeks for production.
- Before your session, you will want to check out the Top 5 Tips for Planning Your Photoshoot. It includes suggestions on what to wear, what props to bring, among other things!
- During your session, we’ll have lots of fun!! You’ll look amazing, have some laughs, and enjoy the special time in your life that is your Engagement!
- 1-2 weeks after your engagement session: your pictures are uploaded to an online proofing gallery for viewing, ordering, and sharing with friends/family.
Just before your Wedding:
- 30 days before your wedding, your final payment is due.
- 2-4 weeks prior to wedding day, I will email you a Wedding Day Questionnaire, requesting specific information about your wedding day (timeline, photo requests, vendors, etc). This gives me an idea of the flow of the day. I may contact you with any additional questions I may have.
On your wedding day:
- Time to relax, have fun, and enjoy the day you’ve planned!
- I’ll take pictures of everything!
After the wedding:
- 1-3 weeks after the wedding: Your proofs will be posted online for viewing and ordering. Work on your album will begin immediately. If you want to make your own album selections, you have that option too!
- 2-3 weeks after album selections are made: Your album design will be sent over for approval. You have the option to make 2 complimentary rounds of revisions if needed. Possible changes include swapping out images with ones from your proofing gallery, changes to the design layout, color changes like BW and vintage processing, order of pages, number of pages, etc.
- Once your album design is approved, it will be sent to the lab to be printed and bound. Turn around time for Fine Art Albums is approximately 3-4 weeks.
