Lauren and Nick are getting hitched this December. For their engagement session, they decided to have some fun with their Yorkie “Sugar” and bring Nick’s collection of vintage mopeds out into a beautiful field in Casper’s Park. When we arrived at the park, we were a bit surprised they did not allow dogs, so we made the best of our time and worked with a couple different locations. I love how many different moments we were able to capture.
Travis and Julie totally rocked their engagement session today in Laguna. They smiled the whole time from ear to ear, the beach was beautiful, and we got an amazing sunset! Travis is a pilot for the Navy and together they are planning a fun military wedding for next month. Check back soon to see more of these two!!
Katrina and Adam are a sweet couple who recently moved to Long Beach from Washington State. They have tons of great style, adorable smiles, and lots love to share! We spent the eventing at a beautiful beach Laguna and captured these fun engagement pictures with their energetic puppy. My favorite part of the evening was taking some unexpected pictures of these two with Adam’s vintage beetle right after sunset. It kinda reminds me of when Mat and I took our engagement pictures with his Delorean. Dream cars always make great props!
Stephanie and Ryan are a super fun couple with great style and lots of personality. They are planning a wedding for this November in Huntington Beach. For their engagement session, Stephanie wanted to do something a little “fancier” with their attire and focus their session of the downtown architecture of HB. We started their session a couple hours before sunset and took a stroll down a cool alley that had lots of great nooks with cool textures.
As couples are booking wedding dates for next year, engagement season is coming up and many coupes will be soon starting the search for wedding photographer. Unless you’ve booked a professional photographer before and know exactly what you’re looking for, it might be a tedious task of sorting through what seems like thousands of photographers out there. So how do you pick just one?
One of the best ways I recommend choosing a photographer is to have engagement portraits taken. This will allow you a chance to see what it’s like being in front of the camera with that specific photographer. Things like personalities, amount of direction, and rapport will build trust and help give you an idea what it would be like to be photographed on your wedding day.
Engagement sessions are also a fun way to celebrate things you love to do together. Whether it’s hanging at the beach swimming and the ocean, dressing up and playing giant chess at a hotel, or play around at the home and garden store, there is no limit to how creative you can get! Below are some inspiration ideas for engagement sessions.
