Coquelicot Winery: Los Olivos Wedding and Event Venue

Developed in 1999, the Coquelicot Estate Vineyard lies just south of the historic Mission Santa Ines in the Santa Ynez Valley on California’s Central Coast. This week, they opened their (90+ year old) barn doors and hosted a launch party with lots of fun event professionals from catering, event design, and florals, to rentals, music, entertainment, transportation, and desserts. My favorite part of the evening was drinking some delicious wine, tasting all the food, and going on a hayride through the vineyard! Emme & Rick’s Destination Wedding: Temecula

Emme and Rick had a beautiful wedding this past weekend at Ponte Winery in Temecula, CA. Emme is a clothing designer and Rick a firefighter/ aspiring wedding photographer and together they have a sweet little girl who is almost three years old. Most of the family and guests traveled from Ohio to celebrate their destination wedding. Planning her wedding from out of state, Emme had to rely on her instincts with many details of her day. The first moment we ever met in person was when I walked in the door to her bridal suite and she was smiles all day long. The wedding was intimate and everyone danced well into the night. I’m so honored to have been part of this special day.

Marissa & Tyler: Married at Seven Oaks Country Club

I first met Marissa and Tyler last year during Jen and Rylan’s wedding at Seven Oaks (Jen is Marissa’s big sister). A few months after that, she contacted me and told me the great news about planning her own wedding and she wanted me to come out and document her day (JOY!) She would describe her wedding as “Girly/Bling.” Her whole family is so kind and sweet, I’ve really been looking forward to seeing them again! I got a chance to really get to know her and Tyler during their engagement session at the Viceroy Hotel and Santa Monica Pier. It was awesome to see everything pull together this weekend as Marissa and Tyler got married!

Marissa + Tyler’s Beach Engagement Session: Santa Monica

I met Marissa and Tyler at the end of last year during a wedding I shot for Marissa’s sister in Bakersfield. I was so thrilled when she contacted me soon afterwards as she was starting to plan her own wedding!! It was almost 7 years ago when Marissa met Tyler during spring break at Pizmo Beach. In the spring of last year, Tyler brought Marissa back to Seal beach to ask the big question! They’re now planning an intimate wedding at the beautiful Seven Oaks Country Club, in Bakersfield, this May. When I talked to Marissa about where she might like to do her engagement photoshoot, the idea of the beach was on the top of her list. For some beach shots, we walked across the street towards the pier. Spring is definitely in bloom, and we took some warm sunset shots overlooking the ocean.

Destination Wedding: Lower Yosemite Falls

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly and David’s destination wedding. When Kelly described her wedding to me, I was super excited. She planned on a very intimate ceremony with about 25 guests, lots of personal details, and the location…. Yosemite! I’ve actually been wanting to go to Yosemite for a while now, so this was a dream. Included below are mostly pictures of the guest experience and Kelly. First, a picture of the “Tunnel View.”

A welcome gift bag awaiting at the hotel for us. Included in the bag was snacks, water, mini flashlight, map, paper soap, band-aids, sun block, compass, hand sanitizer, carabiner, off repellent, matches, and tissue. I love all the details Kelly thought about!

I started with some pictures of David at 9am. Location: The Lower Yosemite Falls Lodge.

Kelly’s dress was customized with a beautiful red flower and sheer gold fabric on the backing. She also made her necklace, earrings, and the hangars!

Ever since I got my Canon 100mm macro lens, the “ring shot” is one of my favorite things to do. I like to incorporate one object that represents the wedding. It’s usually something simple like a pine cone (as shown below), a leaf, a bird’s nest from the table decorations, or flowers.

Since the wedding took place in the morning, everyone had a great lunch at the historic Awahnee hotel. I was done shooting by 3:30pm, which is the record earliest finish time for me! After their busy morning, Kelly and David were able to start their relaxing weekend hanging out with friends and family, hiking, and rock climbing.
